Gabriel Taksa A.K.A. Southpaw first heard Drum & Bass in early '97. A Pomona rave, a green camouflage filled room, and jump up blasting from the speakers. But he ventured off into the madness of the hardcore room and it wasn't until '99 (after years of listening to hip-hop) that he came to understand the greatness of Drum & Bass. In 2000 Southpaw bought his Technics and a Vestax mixer. Always precise and analytical he studied the ways of the mix. Over the years, Southpaw has been influenced by all different styles of Drum & Bass, spinning anything from neuro, to dark tunes, to amens, to melodic and atmospheric, and the occasional stabs, crabs, and flares. You can hear and download his music for free at www.djsouthpaw.com. Taking influence from quality music regardless of genre you can simply describe Southpaw as someone who loves music.
