Biography
The band consists of Chance Villegas (Lead Vocals/Drums), Joe Villegas(Guitar/Vocals), and Parks (Bass/Vocals). They originate out of Tucson, AZ. The name Pigmoney was created on a trip between Arizona and California. Joe was pulled over for speeding. The magic happened when he got his ticket
and said, “Damnit! Why am I always giving these Pigs money?” Thus, Pigmoney was born.
Pigmoney’s self titled debut E.P. was released in 2007 and are now currently recording their 1st full length album entitled “Evil Genius Hero.” Pigmoney has teamed up with legendary engineer/producer Michael Blum (Titan Recording). Michael engineered several Madonna LPs, including "Like A Prayer" (Triple Platinum) and the soundtrack to the movie "Who's
That Girl" (Platinum). He also had the opportunity to work with such superstar talent as Pink Floyd, Bryan Ferry, Kenny Loggins, Julian Lennon, Meredith Brooks, Peter Cetera, and Jody Watley, among others.
Lyrics and music are written by all members of the band. The name Pigmoney has driven the lyrical content to consist of topics like Power, Money, Control and Struggle. The self titled E.P. has songs like “I Want More” that speak of the greed within oneself, always wanting more, and never holding on to satisfaction. Other songs like “Slave to Nothing”
simply say not to be a slave to any form of control. The new album “Evil Genius Hero” (to be released) is going forward with the same ideas. With lines like “we don’t need to follow them” (Touch My Body) and “One thought, One mind, how do we change this design” (Make it Last) Pigmoney shows the desire to create change and become truly free.
“Slave to Nothing” became Pigmoney’s first music video, released in 2008 and recorded in Las Vegas. In the same year a video for “Time Has Come” was created by video extraordinaire, Bob Downey. The video is very politically driven exposing the war machine at its worst, using all the
free internet video resources available today. The latest video “I Want More” (2010) was Produced by Jason Sun, directed by Sarah Hamblin, written by Sarah Hamblin and Pigmoney. This video depicts 3 different characters in their current life situation quickly transforming into what they want to be: a hospital worker becoming a rocket scientist, a waitress becoming an actress, and a business man with never ending want for money, control and ultimately divine power.
Everyone in the band has become a better writer and a better player. Chance is now singing and playing highly energetic drums at the same time, making Pigmoney stand out in the rock genre. The sound they have created is fearless and they are highly anticipating the release of their new album, “Evil Genius Hero.”
